Hi guys, just had another idea :o for advertising,

Virtual Skies doesnt like being compared to VATSIM, IVAO etc right?

So is it not a good idea to target another big(ish) organisation that feels the same.

FSHost users tent to fly on FSHost servers because

1/ they dont have the knowledge to fly on VATSIM, IVAO
2/ the strictness
3/ The slow progress

Virtual skies offers all the pilot training possible, and is the opposite of the last two.
I know thats why most of the people that fly on FSHost dont use VATSIM because i used to be one of them!

I dont know how they could be targeted, never thought of that one.

But if we could prove to them there is an alternative to VATSIM etc then we could be in with a chance of a big traffic increase.
Most of them actually dont enjoy the FSHost servers because they are "slightly" out of date whereas Virtual Skies has the modern servers and so on,

Let me know what yous think,

Connor

Its an avenue we can look at, however like most things, getting the word out, I myself when I first started fs about 18 months ago went on to Vatsim for my sins, I wasnt trained, was a useless pilot (still am!), found VSN thanks to a forum and now Im here, having made no real improvement!

Im not honestly sure where the best place to advertise for that would be. If anyone has suggestions send them to us and we can see whats possible.

By the way spot on were not Vatsim or IVAO, we can have a laugh!

Thanks

vsn have a laugh
vsn mentor atc
vsn have great servers
vsn have great staff

as for the piloting Ben, sorry, only you can fix that! :L, your not that bad

the advertising on FSHost would be good i think, and would rake in the pilots

Hi guys

Was interested to read this post.

To sorta fill you in on past activities and issues encountered

Many of the Flight Sim associated sites are very hand in glove with Vat and IVAO. This is in the main due to the fact that may of the senior people in both have had strong or have strong links with these places. when we tried to supply a VSN Certificate and Partner Certificate to sites many just would not entertain us because of our competitive edge, and of course links to othes. Its a preety political field to be in because they dont want to unset the "big guys".

However, I have tried to fly as much as I can on the old gamespy - thats how I came to join a little olde' network called London Virtual. ( Jayden, if your reading this mate do you feel old yet?). I suggested that by on frequent occsion some of us fly on Gamespy dropping hints to guys on there about VS - that way we hit them before they find VAT etc. One or two came over.

There are still some issues connecting because of the split voice and graphics applications we use. this isnt a poke at that area but to clarify. Its damned long winded and can be full of complications to a novice joining - people want lock, load and fire application on flight simming.

We could have a face book open, we could contact Answers.com to make a category for flight simmers dropping in loads of VSN things of course.
And
we could compile a sound letter to these software sites where textures are down loaded - offer them again and again FREE links from out site in return for a "certificate on theirs" (link attached of course" - good solid stats about member numbers forum hits etc may be needed - it takes ONE site to start the process. Ill happily look over any "letters marketing/advertising to any site"

Thanks for the reply,

i agree, although i still strongly feel that people on places like FSHost would be interested.

When i was on there (a while back! :L), it felt like a waiting room, i kept thinking that there must had been something better than FSHost, yes i agree also that all the advertising with places like AVSIM etc would be great but i think it should be a big one, a really big advertising campaign, like set VSN a target to get such and such amount of members registered and flying regularly.

I hope someone know what i mean as im not the best at explaining!
